Empathy map

This is the empathy map that I made for this project. I made it about how developing countries need better health care and vaccines

The goal was and what I based my topic on.

Support the research and development of vaccines and medicines for the communicable and noncommunicable diseases that primarily affect developing countries, provide access to affordable essential medicines and vaccines.

STEM logo task

We were given the task of creating a logo about what we think STEM is at ASC. Overall STEM at ASC is a subject that uses all your knowledge from other subjects in a practical and fun way.  Our 3 focuses were collaboration, effective communication and problem solving.

For our project we created a wooden sign with an S made out of an acrylic pipe filled with blue dyed water, the T was made out of 2 LED light strips to represent technology, LEGO for engineering and a laser cut M to represent maths.

Team Collaboration

Our team worked pretty-well together. We all had equal jobs in the team, and all played our role in making the project. Ethan did mainly the written work, Mason and Amos did a lot of the physical work but we all got a fair share of everything.

Design Thinking Process

The first thing we did was emphasise the project and find out what we were actually doing. The we defined what STEM was at ASC and what it was at other schools. Then we began our ideation with a few brief designs of our logo and ended up doing the first one we chose..

Dear Year 8 Me

dear year 8 me

my best learning experience of year 8 was year 8 camp because it was a great place to push yourself and do things that you don’t want to do and to learn new skills, it was also a great place to meet people in your house and make new friends.

my most enjoyable experience of year 8 was going on the cathedral visit to Saint Pauls cathedral. I enjoyed it the most because it was a really interesting day learning about all of the different things in the cathedral. My personal favourite part of the cathedral visit was the organ and the bell tower.

My biggest contribution to the school this year would have to be helping build the precious plastics machines (precious plastic machine is a machine that shreds plastic up into small pieces for it to be melted down and used mould thins/make all sorts) the part of which I contributed to the most with the machines was testing them all out a making sure all of them worked well.

The place where I learnt the most about myself was on camp because on the crate stack I did not really want to do that because I am scared of heights even though I am a rock climber but it turned out to be rather enjoyable and also quite difficult.

The thing that I would want to change about year 8 is the amount of assessments/assignments because I think that there is too many. I would of also liked to change the fact that we really only do the one making subject which is wood work I would like to more of those subjects.

The advice that I would give future year 8s are that get ready for year 8 to be much harder than year 7 because there are many more tests, assessments and assignments other than that year 8 is fine.

Breaking barriers – fixed to growth mindset

  1. In this video game I had a fixed mindset and thought I could not do this.
  2. So the story is that there is a game called Kerbal Space Program and it is a game where you are essentially NASA and you build space crafts and get them into orbit and to other planets (it is quite difficult) so anyway I got quite frustrated about trying to get into orbit and thought I just couldn’t do this. but my brother showed me how to do it and the basic concept on how you do it and all became much clearer and simpler.
  3. I moved from fixed mindset to growth because I enjoyed the game and wanted to play it properly and not let this stop me

what I have been doing in InovatED VR tour Project

what I did in the VR editing was to help in the editing group to edit the final videos and to add some effects into them to make them more appealing for when we pitched. When I edited the videos I added iris effects which are transitioning effects. I have also done a small amount of research on the camera and a microphone for it.
