About Myself

My name is Evelyn Ward and I am in Year 12 at All Saints’ College.

I am very involved in the Arts at ASC. It is what I love to do and my ultimate passion. Regarding my passion for Dance, Music and Drama my dedication and commitment are unmatched. And with the motivation and support I receive from the people closest to me, I hope to achieve so much more.

CRESCENDO – ASC Dance Concert 2023

As a Year 12 student, I fully immersed myself in my last-ever Dance Concert. I have been a part of the ASC Dance Concerts for seven years and was so excited to be given the privilege of choreographing the 7-12 finale piece along with two others. Our Year 12 original group composition was much loved and in my opinion one of the highlights. So proud of everyone involved and I will forever miss this when leaving the college.

The Tradies – Lyrics Underground, Maylands

This year in June, my school band and 7 others, had the amazing opportunity to perform live at Lyrics Underground bar. For the gig, we performed 5 songs on which I provided my musical talent differently for all of them. I sang lead vocals for Dig A Pony and Buddy Holly, played keyboard and backing vocals for Dancing Queen and More Than A Woman, played the tambourine also on More Than A Woman, and lastly, played the kazoo on Sir Duke. Below is A video of our first song Dig A Pony by the Beatles. You can watch more performances of The Tradies and me on Instagram @evw.music.

My Worlds Greatest Shave Journey

On April 24th 2023, I made the brave decision to shave my head to raise money and awareness for the Leukemia Foundation. I had over 20cm of my hair shaved down to 3mm and it was the most rewarding experience of my life. Not only did I raise over $1.6k, but I also helped raise awareness for such an important cause. A few of my family and friends have unfortunately lost their hair due to illness and it was so important to not only me but to them as well for me to go through with this. I am forever proud of myself for this and I make it look good!

Year 10 English – Positive Leadership

In Year 10 English this year, we were given the chance to do a practical assessment of a Group Dramatic Performance. This task allowed us to not only create a scene but to discover and display our best capabilities. During our six-week dramatic process, I showcased my leadership skills in ethical ways. I should that I can be an effective leader, who can help others achieve the best. For the task, my assigned job for our group of 4, was to handle the scriptwriting aspect of the dramatic performance. I took this as an opportunity to write a comedic yet informative script that I knew would showcase the talent and abilities of the others in my group along with myself. However, when writing our script, I found myself visualizing prior dramatic choices for our scene. This means I could easily know how to help and fix any issues we had.

Being the most experienced performer in the group, I was cast as the leader in the way that my fellow group members came to me for advice on performing. When they would ask me if a choice, they were making was good or not, I would think to myself first, ‘would this be effective in the storytelling aspects of the scene?’ and if yes, I would say to go for it. If the answer was no, I would not criticize or judge, but rather show alternative ways to approach the situation so I was seen more as a leader and not a boss, because there is a very significant difference. A boss tells you what to do, and a leader shows you what to do. With the effects of showing and not telling, comes easy communication and understanding of what is wanting to be portrayed. I displayed leadership in our dramatic scene by undertaking these actions.

MAMMA MIA! 2021

In the early months of 2021, I had the privilege of being cast in this year’s College Musical of ‘Mamma Mia!’. We started rehearsals in December and worked hard every week for our 4 performances on 21-22 April and 9-10 May (due to the COVID-19 interruption). I played a large role, not only with my acting and singing abilities but in leadership and problem-solving. Whenever there were any problems I along with my fellow performers always found ways to fix anything wrong in the most effective and beneficial way possible. I also feel that I contributed to the work of the play when I was off stage in the way that I was always there to help with costumes and choreography and make sure we put on the best performance we could for the 1,600 people we performed for. In the end, we put on one of the most exciting up-lifting productions this college has ever seen and this was by far one of the most enjoyable experiences I have ever had.
