Keys for Life – Campaign

Eportfolio Reflection

What were the biggest things you learned while at the RAC bstreetsmart excursion?      When you come across an accident you shouldn’t try to do anything by yourself you should instantly call 000 and leave it to the experts to complete the task. You shouldn’t try to help someone unless the vehicle they are in is about to explode. The reason why you wouldn’t take someone out of a car in an accident is because you might cause extra permanent damage to their body. You should wait for the ambulance or other experienced personal as they can safely get someone out without causing any extra unnecessary damage.   Another big thing that I learnt at the RAC excursion was how distracting passengers can be to the driver. In the scene that they performed it showed the effects of how a passenger can be very distracting for the driver. The back seat passenger showed the driver a photo on his phone making the driver distracted and forcing him to lose his attention resulting in him crashing into a motorcyclists. By intentionally distracting the driver their attention to the road instantly decreases increasing the chance of a crash occurring. This is a very important to take note of.   Another very important thing we learnt at the excursion is to make the right decisions when your driving. If you choose to do the right thing and limit the amount of distractions present you can easily reduce the chance of an accident occurring. Also make the right choice and don’t drink and drive. If you don’t drink your awareness of the road will be high.
What one piece of advice would you pass on to young drivers above all else?   Why?    Make the right choices. This encompasses most if not all aspects of driving by simply making the right choice you can reduce the chance of a crash occurring. Things like not drinking too much before your drive or having your phone switched off when you drive are small things you can you do very easily. If you make the right choices you won’t need to suffer from the consequences of a crash or accident. This is the most important piece of advice as it is the simply decider between a careless and a safe driver. If you follow this the chances of you being in a crash are very low.
Write down a pledge that you will commit to when you start driving.   Why did you pick these things to commit to?   How will you stick to these commitments?I pledge that I will not be an aggressive driver and be someone who follows all the road rules with the upmost care. I pick these things to commit to as if I follow all the rules I will limit the chance of an accident occurring. It will mean that I’m a safe driver and that I will not be a danger on the road. It also means that people will trust me to drive them on the road without likely causing an accident. I will stick to these commitments by listening in class and learning as much as I can about road safety. Also by making sure that I understand many laws so I that I never break them.

2021 Reflection

2021 was a very interesting year as Covid majorly affected it. Throughout the whole year it was difficult and stressful as there were many assessments and test. Although I managed to complete all of them to a high standard I was still a little worried about them. I mainly felt happy throughout the whole year but there were sometimes when I felt anxious because we had to write an essay or there was a challenging test coming up. The main difference between year 7 and year 8 was that the assessments we did were more advanced and difficult lifting the standards a bit more. The most enjoyable experience last year was when we went on camp. We drove down to Nanga Bush Camp and we settled into our houses and dorms. The one thing I learnt from this from teamwork and friendships between all my peers and friends. Camp made me feel happy because I was spending time with friends for a solid week and we didn’t have to do any work and all we did was fun activities.

In this year I also did accelerated math which meant that I was doing the math for the grade above. It was mostly difficult as the content we covered I hadn’t been exposed to previously. I didn’t perform as well as I would have liked in math but then again I was doing a year above so it was expected for me to not do as well. In my other subjects I performed to my expectation achieving an ‘A’ in all my mesh subjects. I didn’t really enjoy the assessments last year especially in Hass as we had to write many essays.

Overall last year was an enjoyable experience with many ups and downs.

Goal: I want to achieve a 75% or higher in the next English assessment.

Fixed vs Growth Mindset

Definition:

When you have a fixed mindset you don’t want to improve or push yourself. Its also when you doubt yourself saying things like I can’t do this and why do I bother. A fixed mindset is the thought of no wanting to get better because something is holding you back. A time I had a fixed mindset is when I thought that I couldn’t play this piece on the piano.

A growth mindset is the ability to keep going and wanting to find new ways to improve. This is the type of mindset that we want everyone to have because it is about encouraging yourself and not letting anyone put you down. A time when I had this mindset is with hockey and wanting to improve, so I got my dad to help me.
