My best learning experience was year 8 camp, because I learned a lot of things about others and some useful life skills (cough cough 🤣). I learned about how to use an alcohol fire thing, and that other people do and have a bunch of stuff I didn’t know about. Quite the experience.

The most enjoyable experience I have of year 8 would have to be being able to be in a small class of 4 for math, as it is very calm in there, and also rowdy at the same time. I felt that it was a very enjoyable experience.

I learnt the most about myself when I got an AMC award. I was invited to attend a workshop, and I went, but… yeah no I felt so stupid, it was overwhelming, you could feel the smart waves and vibes just emanating from everywhere. From this I learnt that there are always bigger fish, not that I didn’t know that already, but it put things into perspective.

If I could change one thing in year 8, I would spend more time studying and focusing on assignments, as there were a few assignments and tests where my results were under average, however I would not study too much, as I am a firm believer that life isn’t just studying, it’s also a lot about making connections and relationships with other people.

I think my biggest contribution to the school is my active contribution to the school’s symphony orchestra, as there are only two violas in the whole orchestra, and I am one of them, this makes me 50% of a whole section, which is quite the bold, but true, claim.

For any year 7’s going into year 8, I have a few pieces of advice for you.

  1. Year 8 doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of high school, but just because of this you shouldn’t not try.
  2. Your achievements and accomplishments don’t define you, don’t become subjective to believing that your lack or surplus of accomplishments defines your self-value. You are the only one that can determine that, not what you have done. So going into year 8, look up, and don’t worry about making mistakes.
