The Christmas Market

A project that tested our thinking and creativity, a task that challenged us mentally in our business minds, an assessment that was enjoyable but difficult, this was the Christmas Market. Let me take you back to the very beginning of term four of year 7 in 2020. As we learned about business and trade in humanities, how to produce and analyze advertising, and finally how to put everything together to create our very own business. Our group used many capabilities along the process of thinking and finally creating our product, an example of this is when our group (Natures Ornaments) showed creativity and collaboration when creating and making our product. Our products were ethical gum nut ornaments that were and are sustainable. Our original idea was to create a Christmas wreath, but we shortly changed this because we found that this would not be successful because the leaves would soon wilt and die. The idea of creating a product that was original and also would fit the wants and needs of the target audience was challenging but I believe that the entire year seven cohort met the full spectrum of each and everyone’s desires.

Our group

On the actual day of the market (a Friday) we were nervous yet excited to sell our products, but I also think that each group was a little bit competitive. On the day we found that we were not making sales at the very beginning of the market, we decided to lower our price since we would still be making a profit because our cost price was so low. At the very end of the market, we found that we (in total) made $37 dollars and our business was a success. Overall, I really enjoyed this task and would definitely do it again but change a couple of decisions, our group work very well together and collaborated to the best of our ability.
