Project Utopia

Project utopia was an assignment where everyone had to create their own utopian society in 9 weeks. The term ‘Utopia’ means perfect, but everyone knows that’s not possible, so our goal was to make our utopia (Jessiana) as perfect as possible. You had a choice to present this by making a model or doing a digital copy (on co- spaces.) This project was spread out in Hass, English, Science, InnovatED, digital ICT, and connected learning.

Jessiana achieved six accredited global goals, No poverty, Life below water, life on land, good health and wellbeing, zero hunger, and reduced inequalities. I learned lots about what all of these global goals mean and how much they can do to your community. These goals linked to each other in different ways like the livability factors and so on. By having these goals in place, it made our community a happy, enjoyable place to be.

The teachers picked our groups, meaning we were with people we wouldn’t have picked if we could. Most of the time, we ended up placing all of our ideas into one idea. This worked great for our team as it made us all feel included and heard by our teammates. Jessiana had a bit of every teammate in it, we all had our own perfect society’s plus our teammate’s. I think that my team showed some great teamwork by listening to others, including everyone, and making everything fair.

My team was organized in many ways. We had to bring in materials, build, plan and create our presence in time for the showcase. The way we did this was we created a table on the shared one note and we wrote down when and what we had to do and when it was to be completed. This definitely helped us complete our tasks on time and efficiently. By doing this method, it makes everything much easier and you can complete everything in time instead of rushing and not doing it to the best you can.

In the end, I achieved so many things. I now know how much a global goal can do, how to work with your team fairly, how to work efficiently, and that even if you don’t get along that well with your teammates, you can still work hard, listen to them, include them and most importantly, have fun! This was an awesome project and I enjoyed the progress of it so much.
