Innovate (ED)

Innovate (ED) is a learning period that we do on Tuesdays for two periods with all of the year 7’s, we learn about life skills that express your creativity, Innovate and make mistakes in a safe environment.

We started Innovate (ED) in term 1 and began to make straw roller coasters, marble runs, playing with ozobots and much more. We had two weeks to work on our project and started developing skills by using the five powers which are communication, creativity, teamwork, problem solving and self management. Which helped us make our projects better with the help of the team mates around me.

In Innovate (ED) this term we have started designing ways to reduce the use of plastic by making fabric objects that are used in everyday life for the UN goal #12 which is responsible consumption and production. Our project proposal was to make a homework folder out of fabric to look like a tote bag but inside there would be dividers for your papers and there would be pockets for small stationary and pens. Though that idea was too hard for year 7’s to make that had not much experience with sewing. So we decided to make pencil cases out of fabric and to close the pencil case up instead of using a zipper which some are made out of plastic we decided to use ribbons of different colours. My group will be designing some quotes on the front and small awareness inside the pencil cases because pencil cases are already made out of fabric.
