Hass update 2

In Term 4 Week 2, we have started the creation process of the bath bombs, by making different coloured ones and testing different scents. Prior to creating the bath bombs, we searched up many different recipes on how to make a bath bomb. There were many videos on YouTube which were similar to each other, in terms of the same ingredients. Using this research, we decided to make bath bombs with Epsom Salt because they relax muscles and relieve pain in the body. This was crucial information as this could be an addition to the bath bomb, which is beneficial for our consumers. Our final product will be environmentally friendly bath bombs which create zero waste and are biodegradable as bath bombs dissolve in water easily.  The crucial ingredients to making a bath bomb were baking soda, citric acid, and water. The baking soda mixed with the citric acid (creating the base of the ‘dry’ ingredients) reacts with water, which makes the bath bomb fizz. We have also found out for consumer demands that fragrant bath bombs were popular, so we added rose and lavender essential oils for fragrance purposes. We have been experimenting with different coloured bath bombs, ranging from pink to green, as well as multi-coloured ones to add some variety.

Continuing on from the end of Term 3, we are well on track with our timeline, as we have been working effectively in and out of class. We have also been using the excess bath bomb mix as a ‘tester’ to see if our recipes have worked. Throughout many trials, we have had to tweak our method by a few measurements. This can be due to the mixture not being moist enough and not being able to stick together, or if it was fizzing too much from us adding too many liquids. We have figured out collectively that the mixture that will solidify together is one that can hold if you press it together, however, crumbles when you touch it (after the creating process, before putting it into the fridge/freezer). Storing the bath bombs in a cool place can speed up the solidifying process, as when we took them out after leaving them in the freezer they had already set into the molds. This also benefited us as we could make more bath bombs in a shorter period of time. We have also created a budget plan on an excel spreadsheet, as we can keep track of our budget. By doing this, it can help us collectively decide how much we want to sell our bath bombs for, in order to make a profit. This wasn’t part of our original timeline/plan, however, it makes sense to add a budget plan on an excel spreadsheet.  We still haven’t ordered our packaging yet, although we have already started on our brand logo and the presentation part of our brand. We will achieve this by the end of week 4.

InnovatED

On the 22 of May a group of prominently 57 kids went to RAAFA to try and solve a problem, THis problem including delivering food to the residents. The food they were getting wherein plastic containers and were all mixed together. My group came up with the idea to create a car with heaters and freezers at the back to keep the food fresh, it would also include biodegradable cups and plats. The food would also be in certain trays that would keep them in order and reduce them from moving around. The car would be powered by solar panels that would reduce the amount of power used. We also had a budget that was $50000 but we luckily kept in that price range. Some groups got the chance to p9itch to the people at RAAFA with their ideas to try and see if RAAFA would use their idea.
