Outdoor Education Lock 2021

rock climbing

on the first day we went rock climbing/ abseiling at the quarry near wellington dam. we had been practicing climbing in the gym at school for a few weeks and we all felt comfortable with climbing but we had never climbed a wall this big there were three wall we could choose from I attempted to climb two of them I got half way up one and 3 quarters up the other one. I’m scared of heights so doing the rock climb and abseil helped me with my resilience because i was scared to climb but I got over my fear and did it.

white water rafting

we white water rafted down the wellington dam we started in a large pool and went down stream hitting rapids and small drops. I went in a raft with ben and we worked well together as a team. white water rafting helped with my team work skills and communication when I was going me and ben had to work together to get to the end.

cooking

on camp we were put into groups to supply and cook our own food. we practiced on the fire pits at school and cook for a few weeks. on the first night of camp we cooked burgers and the second night we cooked tortillas. we had to do everything ourselves from stating the fire to cleaning up. cooking helped me with my organisational skills because we had to supply our own food and had to decide when and what we cooked.

Woodwork 2021

In woodwork in we created led trophies throughout term 1 and 2. I used organisational skills so that I could complete my project in time. throughout the project I was well ahead of my class being 1 or two steps ahead of every. this shows the organisation I throughout the unit. I also used creativity changing the original design we were given. I put ramps on the side. When I was assembling the trophy  at the end I accidently didn’t put the cutch on the drill and it cracked the wood. But I showed resilience by not worrying and instead of starting over all I did was found some glue and fixed it. This project pushed me and was challenging for me but  it was very fun and it was a good to try something new.

Raafa

I learnt a lot about how to a group and come up with an idea to solve a problem and how to self manage myself to create a project. I also learnt how to be creative an come up with an idea from scratch. I also learnt how to work in a team and although we got distracted at times we came through with a solid idea and got to present to Raafa we also went through all the steps of ideas. All in all, it was a fun project and I learnt a lot of things.
