Hey! I’m Taryn.
I’m 15 and currently a student at All Saint’s College. I’m an open-minded and calm person who is open to trying everything with all the energy I have, even if it’s unfamiliar to me. In fact, due to this, I discovered my love for art.
To be honest, I wasn’t always an artist. I didn’t enjoy art until Year 6 when my friend got me into it. Since then, I’ve been consistently practising to improve my skills with co-curriculars like Propeller in school and also at home.
I enjoy drawing portraits the most, but I like to experiment with drawing in all sorts of styles. I like doing a mix of both traditional and digital art. I’m really down to draw anything. Last year I won an award from my school for a painting I did, which I’ll show below.
Outside of drawing, I also like to read, bake, skate and play music. My favourite academic subjects at school are English and Math. My out of school commitments are ice skating and Girl Guides.
Others may describe me as always busy and always thinking outside of the box.
I am motivated by helping others and my community: We all know what it’s like to be down in the dumps, and we would wish it upon no one, right? As someone who hasn’t been in the best situations before, I want no one to ever feel like that and I try to help everyone. I love the feeling of helping others and bettering their lives.
Values that have always been important to me in life include honesty, perseverance, teamwork, and creativity. I think these values are important as they help me be a better person and help me navigate the world.
However, a value that I could work on is being confident. Ever since I was a kid, the thought of even putting my hand up in a class has been terrifying to me. However, as I progress through high school l am trying to become more confident by signing up for clubs and challenging myself to do things.
In the future, I would like to teach either Politics or History and Visual Arts in a secondary school in Australia, or wherever I am needed.
