Hi, my name is Zoey. I am an outgoing, supportive and helpful person. These are three important qualities to me because they help define myself as a person. I live life to the fullest because I know I’m extremely fortunate to live in a place where I am able to express the person I am without feeling judged or disapproved. I come from a family of 4 with a younger brother. My parents migrated to Australia before I was born and moved to Perth. Living in Australia is a massive privilege because I have access to basic needs that many other children my age can only experience scarcely.

Strengths and skills

Some of my strengths include my love for learning, organisation, patience, and perseverance. These are strengths I apply in my daily life such as going to school and experiencing the busy lifestyle involved with it. If I were not organised, I would turn up at my next period with the wrong books and uncompleted homework. My love of learning ties in strongly with my organisation skills. I am constantly curious about different events happening in the world and constantly strive to aim towards goals and achieving highly in all areas of my learning. I also feel I am an effective communicator because I am also assertive whilst I still listen to others. I can get my point across when I am working in group projects and able to actively listen to my peers.

My skills include, Music, communicating with others, taking leadership, being resourceful and helping others. I am skilled in aiming and working towards goals and achieving highly in all areas of my learning.

I am an effective communicator in group projects but still enjoy working on my own. With my strengths and skills applied, in classroom environments as well as at home, these qualities will help me achieve great things. some of these things I hope to experience in the future include making a positive difference with the global goals especially gender equality. Last year I was fortunate enough to be selected to compete in the Future Problem Solving (FPS) team. You compete in teams of four coming up with realistic yet futuristic solutions to main categories of problems. This experience is a pressuring test which pushes you to your limits but allows you to realise how much your brain can help us to solve big issues happening in the world.

I do many extracurricular activities outside of school like sport – basketball, music – ensembles, robotics and dance, touch rugby, AFL and swimming. I have also represented All Saints’ in inter school events for different areas of learning such as sport and music.

My strengths and Skills have helped me achieve the following,

  • Academic Awards from year 3 to 6
  • Junior School Captain in 2019
  • Year 7 Class Rep for Semester 1
  • Music Awards throughout the Junior School
  • Representing the school in inter school events
  • Performing in Carnegie Hall twice
  • Competing in the Future Problem Solving competition

Interests

My interests include, Music, Sport, Swimming, English, giving service to others, socialising, having fun and Dance. With these interests, they help me persevere when something isn’t right and allow me to be a team player and improve my will power to strive to be the best possible version of myself. When people ask what is it about music that draws me in, it’s because music allows you to express your emotions and who you are as a person. In music, I play both Piano and Violin, I have completed my Grade 8 exam in Piano and I am learning diploma now. I am currently in Grade 6 for my Violin. Sport is an interest that teaches me life skills like being organised and being a team player. Sport interests me because it is fun and active which stimulates myself throughout the day.

Passions

I feel passionate about campaigning for gender equality, one of the global goals. I believe that everyone should be treated equally no matter where we come from, where we live and what we believe in. No one should have to change themselves to fit into peoples viewpoints on what a perfect society should be like.

Future Goals

For the next 5 years of my high school career I am working towards having more leadership experience, hopefully being awarded an academic award and being College Captain in year 12. I am also working towards learning when to ask for help and asking questions. I am also aiming for a good ATAR score. Whatever happens in the next few years the only thing I am certain about is that I will enjoy and be proud of what I have achieved in high school.

In the Future I would like to specialise in the medical field. I want to help as many people I can and currently I would like to specialise in the Mental Health area. Mental Health is a growing concern within Australia and many people still aren’t being provided or given the help they need to battle this fight. Currently 20% of Australians battle with Mental Health illness which can continue growing unless we don’t do something to stop it.

My journey throughout the college

I have been at All Saints’ College from Kindy up to the present, this college has helped me grow from the nervous younger self I was into a more assertive and supportive person. This school has allowed me to feel welcomed and I’m able to speak my mind and show what I’m passionate about.
