In the Jewellery Innovate Ed class, we created jewellery to donate to young children in hospitals. It was a really joyful and positive experience. We sadly could not do this as hospital requirements are very strict and recycled jewellery is prohibited as all donations have to be sterile. So we came to the conclusion that we would put all of the bracelets into the $20 boss market and then further donate 100% of the proceeds to the Perth children’s hospital.

This is our $20 boss stall and the brackets are displayed on the cork boards.

I personally believe that we should have planned better as it was rushed the plan did not go as expected due to us not reaching out to hospitals to see if they would take the bracelets in as donations.

One of my favourite parts of the process was pulling apart the old op shop jewellery. As well as organising all of the different beads into colours. Although it was a fun process it took a lot of time and was hard as there was also a variety of textures that just added another element to organise.

Lots of elements were involved in recycled jewellery as we were creating a mini business. Some elements included creating packaging, a logo, posters and more.
