Improvements
If we had the time to adjust the tower after the final test, or if we were to do this again, I would make changes such as fixing the uneven weight distribution which caused the building to tilt and add pressure to the parts that ended up snapping. We would do this by evenly distributing the blue tack as that is the heaviest part, and also properly measure the spaghetti sticks as the different heights were an issue. I also would have kept our original base as it was very strong, and we ended up taking some pieces from the base as we were running out of spaghetti. Finally, I would make the top half a lot stronger as I was very scared of it breaking, even though it didn’t i think its weight brought down the tower.
Summary
To summarise our project, our challenge was to create an earthquake proof building that can withstand a lot of shaking with only few materials. We hoped to build a structurally sound and tall building, but instead we broke it on our final test run. We each worked to make sure the building was 60cm, stylish and strong enough. Unfortunately our tower gave in at the end but i believe it could be due to weak structure and weight imbalance. Overall our tower was not bad I just believe it needed a few more adjustments before we did our final run and we should have taken more care into keeping it strong.
