Fixed Mindset
I never fully learned how to do maths. I can understand ratios or simple addition, but I never had the chance to learn my full times tables. I will never be able to convince myself to keep learning it because all my life, I always did not see it as a priority, and my old school wasn’t bothered to assist me. I always told myself I was bad, and I envied anyone who could do their tables super quick.
Growth Mindset
When I first started karate, I was probably 5-7 and super excited to start. I quickly realised I was pretty bad, and I wanted to quit for the longest time! The more and more I pushed myself to keep going, the more I realised I was still young, and that everyone I looked up to was much older than me and had much more experience. The more and more I trained I learned that I was just as good as I wanted to be, which allowed me to have a have a growth mindset.
