2022 English Reflection

For this ePortfolio reflection, I am going to discuss two important capabilities that I have demonstrated over the past year in English.

.

Collaboration

.

“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.”

-Helen Keller

.

My definition of collaboration is:

  • Listening to other’s opinions and respecting their ideas.
  • Communicating with others and sharing your thoughts to help get the work done efficiently and effectively.
  • Cooperating and understanding others.
  • Participating in a positive way.

.

Over the course of the year, I tried my best to demonstrate this capability in my everyday life. Collaboration has helped my class works together cooperatively and it has taught us to problem solve. By using collaboration, it has helped me get the work done in a productive way. When we all collaborate, there are many more fresh and unique ideas. I have shown a strong sense of collaboration in the following instance:

.

Production Of Current Affairs Segment

.

.

In this assessment, we were placed in small groups and our goal was to produce a Current Affairs Segment. My group consisted of Alison, Saya, and myself. Collaboration played a key aspect in the creation of this video. We had to listen and respect each others ideas if we wanted to create a successful video. Each of us communicated well and cooperated. I always made sure everyone’s ideas were taken into account and I did the tasks I was assigned to do. Collaboration is not only sharing your ideas to your fellow peers, but it is relying on one another to get the job done. In this instance, I think my group could rely on me to get the work done efficiently.

Our goal in this task was to create a PowerPoint to educate our class about a specific poetic form. This task was not an assessment, but we still had to use collaboration. Our group consisted of myself, Alison, Holly, and Ella. We communicated and divided up the workload evenly whilst making the PowerPoint. I respected and took into account everyone’s ideas. It was a positive task overall as we collaborated efficiently.

Learner Agency

“The capacity to learn is a gift; The ability to learn is a skill; The willingness to learn is a choice.”

-Brian Herbert

.

My definition of Learner Agency is:

  • Taking ownership and control over your learning.
  • Setting SMART goals and creating an organised plan for your learning.
  • Being an active learner and taking initiative by listening and participating in class.

Learner Agency has played an important role in English this year. Throughout the year, I consistently set SMART goals so I can achieve my desired results. If I needed assistance with my tasks, I would ask my teacher for feedback in my work and asked how I can improve. I tried to take initiative in my learning by paying attention in class. Even though sometimes I didn’t receive the results I wanted, I persevered and set goals so I can get the best mark possible for the next assessment.
