Christmas market reflection

The Christmas Market was a task where we had to make a product from scratch with $30 and sell to pay the school back in the span of 3 – 4 weeks.

Our Product:

We started off brainstorming ideas that would be a good and sellable product. Once we found idea we started to make the financial spreadsheet and the pitch. We pitched to Miss Shaw explaining how the product worked and how we going to make it safe. The product we thought of was pop stick crossbows, she told us to then pitch to Mr Russel to see if it was safe enough to make. Before we knew it the idea was rejected, only two weeks until the Christmas market we quickly had to think of ideas. The second idea we came up with was tennis ball keyring holders which when we made all the financial spreadsheets and the pitch was accepted and we got our $30.

Making the Product:

After we bought the items we quickly got to work and started to make them, we made pretty much every one different. We had suction cups in the back of them so they could stick to walls, glass and plastic. A lot of people liked the design of the product and there weren’t many groups that had the same idea.

Market Day:

On the day of the market, we were selling 15 of them for $3.00 each which I thought was cheap and we wouldn’t make that much money profit. We started slowly with a lot of people walking past a looking over until one person came then people started coming over and buying our product. Since the Christmas market started we sold out in under ten minutes.

Our ad didn’t have much success, I relied on someone in my group that said they would do it but he said he forgot to save the ad which I didn’t believe, so we didn’t end up making an ad. I learned that I cannot always trust people.

The capabilities that I developed was leadership and collaboration because when we got our best idea rejected I kept thinking of ideas updating the financial and the pitch as I went along. The Christmas Market had a lot of ups and downs for my group but by the end, all the hard work and dedication paid off.
