Ridley Babich

Hi, my name is Ridley Babich and I am a 14-year-old boy who attends All Saints College. I am a kind, caring individual who is very hard working. I strive to improve myself and my friends. I have a good sense of humour and will always try to brighten peoples days. One thing that sets me apart from others is my dedication, I will always try to solve a challenge.

I have worked as a statistician for Willetton Basketball Association and had a high amount of influence on the kids that I worked with. This led to me helping them to better themselves off the court. I also play cricket for the Leeming Spartans (Juniors) and am starting seniors this season for the SJ Blues.

When I was 5, I was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease, a condition where I can’t have gluten. This had led to me being able to work with Coeliac Australia and become an ambassador for Coeliac Australia. As a result, I got to work with Ben Brown, 9 News, 7 News and various newspapers to promote the disease.

Passions and Ambitions

My biggest passion is cricket. I love cricket and will watch any and every form of the game, I also play cricket too (For the Leeming Spartans Cricket Club). Another big passion for me is AFL and enjoy watching it. As you can guess from my biggest 2 passions you can probably tell I am a sports nut, but I also love what is behind each play, the statistics, the coaching, the decisions that are made.  One final big passion I have is helping others so they can have better lives too, just because I am in a wealthier family does not mean I cannot help others in less fortunate areas. My biggest ambition is to be a coach for either an AFL or BBL team. I want to get a degree in sports psychology so I can better understand players and their emotions, needs and wants so I can create the best team(s) possible.

My Values

The difference between me and others is my determination. Determination means you are willing to work harder to improve. It means you aren’t happy with what you get, it makes you want to be better. All the greatest athletes and minds have determination.

The quality that I wished everyone had was respect. This is because respect can get you in many places. Respect is the ability to use your manners and be kind to everyone. Without respect, the world falls apart. It is the key to a successful life and helps with determination. Respecting the chain of command means you build relationships with your superiors and will get you ahead in life.

Life Experiences

I have done several promotional stories with Coeliac Australia and am an ambassador for Coeliac Australia as a result. My two biggest stories are a story with Ben Brown (Of the Melbourne Football Club) in which we appeared on 9 News, the Herald Sun and several front pages in Tasmanian newspapers. My 2nd appearance was on channel 7 in which I also raised awareness of Coeliac Disease.

I also have done volunteer work with Willeton Basketball club as a statistician at both a WABL and NBL1 level.
