Year 8

My best learning experience of 2019 was our OLP (camp), it helped our cohort to learn about cohesive teamwork and independence at the same time. The camp out nights were great fun as well as great for helping us to improve skill such as cooking and setting up tents. We also got to build new friendships with people we didn’t talk to as much in our school environment. If i could change anything about year 8 I would try and get to know other people better at the start of the year because people already had friendship groups and I think it would have been better if we could just get to know each other. My tutor group, 8W, was enjoyable experience in year eight. Not many of us knew each other at the start of the year but by the end of the year we were probably the closest out of the tutor groups. Everyone was comfortable with each other and it was a great way to start of each day.I think i made the biggest contribution to my tutor group, i did this by donating to our donation drives and by making people laugh by drawing funny picture of everyone on the whiteboards before tutor group started. I learnt the most about myself during life skills, it helped us to improve all of our core values and to learn about how our brains work. We also learnt about our study styles and we were taught how to properly study and revise. we also learnt about defeating procrastination and we refined our note taking styles. Some advice i would give to someone about to start year 8 would be to put yourself out there, get to know new people and make sure you listen in class or you’ll miss a lot and have fun.

A BIT ABOUT ME

Hi there! I was born in Perth, Western Australia, in a small house near the city. My Mum and Dad encouraged me to learn lots of different skills when i was younger such as musical instruments and sports, this helped me to start learning at a young age. when i was in year four i change sports from baseball to cricket. The cricket community is a close community and all of the people around are very supportive. Being in this community has helped me to put myself out there.
