Mornington Adventure Camp

Teamwork is the collaborative effort of a group to achieve a common goal or to complete a task in the most efficient way. The year 8 Mornington Adventure Camp was a wonderful chance for me and everyone else to show their teamwork skills. Mornington camp was a house camp, it’s a fantastic opportunity for all the members in the house to get to know each other and collaborate to finish all the challenges that given to us. One of the most memorable activities we did as a house is the low ropes. We have to finish the course without touching the ground and there are no objects for us to support ourselves except a few trees.  It took a while for us to get to know how to get everyone across. Our plan is to get one person to the nearest tree first, and then the person after will go to the next tree with the first person’s help and support. This was achieved by reaching out our arms to get as close to the next tree as possible, so we can be sure our team members won’t fall off. When there’s no one left at the starting point, then the second person will reach out his/her arm for the first person to get across, this was done several times until everyone is at the finish line. From this activity, low ropes helped us to promote our leadership skills, built trust among our team, and strengthened our communication skills. From this experience, we all learned that “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”—Henry Ford.
