Rehearsal process of The Addams Family: SUMMED UP

The Addams Family is a musical comedy based on the iconic characters created by Charles Addams. The story revolves around the peculiar and macabre Addams family, who are confronted with a relatable yet hilariously twisted challenge. As they prepare for a visit from Wednesday Addams’ “normal” boyfriend and his parents, secrets are revealed, relationships are tested, and chaos enters their delightfully dark and humorous world. Through catchy songs, wacky dialogue, and crazy characters, the Addams family explores themes of love and the beauty of accepting someone’s uniqueness.

During the four-month rehearsal process for the musical production of “The Addams Family,” I wanted to play an ensemble actor, focusing on dancing and teamwork. This experience has been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to grow both as an individual and as a performer. This was the first time I have ever been a character that was not the main character! and I wanted to put myself in someone else’s shoes this time and get a feel for how the ensemble drives the show and their perspective. Becoming an ancestor allowed me to do this

The rehearsal process began with auditions, where I had to showcase my dancing skills and demonstrate my ability to work well with others. Once cast, Our director Mrs. Parker set the tone for a positive and caring environment, emphasizing the. As an ensemble actor, my role involved working closely with the choreographer to learn and perfect the danc routines. We spent hours practicing and refining our movements, to back up the main characters on the stage, sort of filling in the gaps of the show.

Teamwork was a crucial aspect of our rehearsals. We collaborated with the other ensemble actors to create transitions, formations, and energetic dance numbers that enhanced the overall production. Through communication, support, and encouragement, we developed a strong bond and a sense of friendship in the ancestors

Throughout the process, I faced challenges that pushed me past my comfort zone. There were complex dance sequences that required stillness stamina, and coordination. I had to work hard to improve my technique and timing, constantly pushing myself to meet the high standards set by Mrs. Codolonga and Parker

As the weeks went by, I saw significant growth in my confidence and ability to work collaboratively. The process taught me the value of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork. It also instilled in me a deeper appreciation for the arts and the transformative power of dance and drama and music combined together for musicals.

Addams was a great experience that taught me the power of teamwork, acceptance, and embracing uniqueness. Through the rehearsal process, I learned the importance of trust, communication, and collaboration, as we worked together to create a cohesive and dynamic production. Now that it’s finished, I lowkey feel a mix of sadness and gratitude, cherishing the memories, the growth, and the bonds formed during this incredible journey.
