This is my Science homework on renewable energy research
what impacts does oil spills have oil spills happen when transporting oil, the main ways are holes in the boat and the ship flipping over they stay on top of the water but then they dissolve into the water
Crude oil is life that dies, and stays there for a long time basically
It affects marine life and humans
First I’m going to start with marine life
- It destroys the instating ability of fur-bearing mammals such as sea otters
- It also destroys the water repellence of bird feathers
- Sea turtles can mistake oil for food and eat it
- Dolphins and whales can inhale it
- Many birds can ingest it when cleaning themselves which can poison them
- They can get into stuff like fish and shellfish which make it unsafe for humans
Now, how it affects humans
- They can get into stuff like fish and shellfish which make it unsafe for humans
- In poor conterys they sometimes wash themselves in oil contaminate water
- When you come in contact to oil it can cause cancer, skin irritations and liver problems
Dams
Dams store water, provide renewable energy and prevent floods. Unfortunately the cons out weight the pros stuff like
- They increase climate change
- They destroy carbon sinks in the wet ands and oceans
- Deprive ecosystems of nurturance
- Destroy habitats
- Increase sea level
- Waste water
- Blocks fish from laying eggs
- And since dam water is still it its cold and has very little oxygen so fish cant go there any way, realising that water cans suffocate fish in the later water streams
Gray Water Recycling
Greywater can be reused for gardens, flushing toilets, and in washing machines. Blackwater can be reused in gardens. Subsurface irrigation of gardens supplied by wastewater is recommended. If used straight away, greywater can be reused with little to no treatment.
Solar Panels
Solar panel’s cost around $7,500 and $10,500 per 10kW in Australia
Solar panel’s that is 10kW will produce approximately 40
Kilowatt-Hour per day in Australia and are 15% to 18% efficient
Wind turbines
A wind turbine will cost around $10,000 in Australia
In a 24 hour period Wind turbines produce an average of around 170 megawatts in Australia and are 20% to 40% efficient
Tidal barrages
The cost of a Tidal barrages are between 3 to 15 million dollars to make and install
Renewable
Tidal barrages are 80% efficient more then solar and wind and produce
1,450 megawatts per day depending on the tide
Coal
Coal is $28.88 per 2,000 pounds in 2021 Australia
NOT REANEWABLE
Coal is 37.5% efficient and One ton of coal can produce 2,500 kilowatt of energy
Advantages Disadvantages
Cost very Little Not Renewable
Make Lots Of Energy coal is a major source of air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to carbon monoxide witch 0 we are trying to get rid of
