Christmas Market

At the start of term 4 of year 7 a project was launched , this project was called the Christmas Market . This project was about selling a item to all of the students of the school to give a feeling of what running a business is and to get a better understanding of what economics .

Every Tuesday we have 2 hours to work on this project. For the first week we had to focus on the primary step. These steps were brainstorming what are product will be , how to buy all the resources needed to produce the product and if our product is feasible. After the first session i had a group with Lucas and Ali . We had come up with a vague idea of what our product would look like.

Next week we had to finalize all the details of our product and how we were going to make it. We had decided on purchasing all of our resources from Kmart which was the cheapest option. For each cap it costed $3.63 . We were selling the caps for $9.99 each. We had to have all of these details in our he presentation to Mr Green so that we could get the $30.00 loan to start producing our products. Once we got the $30.00 then we spent it on caps and the venial. After we had made all of our products we decided to raise the price because many people were commenting on the caps and saying that they are worth more then the price we are selling for . So then we changed the price for standard caps to $12.00 and Premium caps for $15.00.

Once all the technical factors were decided and the caps were made we had a lot of hands on work to do for example we had to make price tags and attach them to the caps and categorise each cap into premium or standard which took a long time.

After this step we had to create some sort of advertisement , everyone had to design a poster that would promote our business. While designing these posters majority of people used canvas since it is such a good tool. I made three designs , all of these designs were simple , had one strong and independent phase to promote the cap. I enlarged the cap to show the audience what our product is and to draw their attention.

This was the Poster i designed to show my cap. I have used different colours to show that the cap is meant for everyone. I have included the price of the cap in a price tag to really show how our product will be displayed. I just used 4 words to draw in my customers. I used ” Bring back the cap” because i wanted to show that this cap would be a cap that is bringing back the style .

On the day we were very nervous because we had to sell enough caps to repay our dept to the school and also make a profit. When got our spot we thought that it wasn’t the best because we were not facing the customers. As soon as the market opened many people walked by so me and Lucas had to call people and show them our product a little closer so that they would be interested in buying our cap. We did get one customer which bought our cap and she did influence the choices of other students. Soon we had a full crowd of students who wanted to buy our caps and we sold out in the first minute. I really enjoyed that moment and i thought that running a business was stressful but very fun and if we pushed our self’s to do our best we can accomplish big goals.
