For Term 2-3, I was set into a team of 8. Using our different strengths, we were tasked to find a way to help residents of Perth’s AMANA Nursing Home residents connect through books, with the intention of presenting a pitch to an AMANA staff member.

After a lot of hard work, we put together a pitch and script. Our solutions were varied, but the main one was book clubs, using data collected from the residents electronically and through paper copies. This intensive survey set trials of different genre groups, with residents able to submit feedback forms. There were plans to expand for auditory and visually challenged residents with the idea of audiobooks and ebooks, and finally the use of “Little Free Libraries” to set up all around AMANA. I think they will be well received, and I’m hoping it will make a difference!
