Project Christmas Market

“Christmas is the annual Christian festival, celebrating and rejoicing the birth of Jesus Christ of Bethlehem, held on the 25th of December, in the Western Church”.

Bishop Harold Miller

We were tasked with designing and developing a product which should meet many customer appeals, and then sell this at the Christmas Market. The school invested a $30 budget for every group to buy the necessary materials and resources to design, prototype, hybrid, and build our product/products.

Our design thinking process was one of the most crucial aspects of our Christmas Market development. It started with the stage called ‘Empathize’.

In the early stages of the design process, we started to interview specific age categories in InnovatED, on what they thought Christmas meant to them.

We eventually decided on creating a product based off the uprising popular videogame by ‘InnerSltoth’ called ‘Among Us’.

After a lot of prototyping, we decided to create quarter scale replicas, out of plastic recycled water bottles, and upcycled paper mache.

During the preparation leading up to the Christmas Market, we had to create a print advertisement to help promote and endorse our product, which we would be selling during the Christmas Market.

During our English periods, we studied and looked at many examples of affective advertisements, and what essential components make them so effective.

What we could do differently

If we were to do this Christmas Market differently, we would try to create more products, as there was such a high demand for our Among Us figurines. During InnovatED periods, I think we could have tried to use our scheduled plan more effectively, which would mean we would be more productive.

Overall, the Christmas Market was one of the highlights of the year, in my opinion. We covered and learnt many new things throughout the variety of subject areas. We leant essential information about being in a business, different skills such as collaboration, and we gained highly detailed knowledge of economics.
