Project Reflection

The Christmas Market was were all the students of Year 7, were given $30, and asked to come up with a business/product idea which we would then sell at the Christmas Market to make a profit. At the very beginning of this project, we started with interviewing people in groups, and asked them questions like “What does Christmas mean to you” , and “What Christmas gift would you buy for teens”. This made us skills in deciding what to create for our Christmas Market stall, because we had the knowledge of what our target audience would buy. This part of the project was called ‘Emphasising’, which was part one of the Design Process.

Next we started to thing of ideas (IDEATE), for what our target audience would want. My group brainstormed things like Scented Candles, Christmas tree Ornaments and Up-cycling different materials, like plastic bottles and egg cartons. We chose to make moulded hands, using Plaster of Paris and water. Our product could be used to do a lot of things, like hold your rings or to hang up your car keys. Then in the following period when we had InnovatED, we would make a PROTOTYPE of our product, to make sure we could make it successfully.
