Media Interagattion Film

Describe the process you went through to create your production.

We went through a process of using our creative thoughts to form an idea about cops, crime and breaking the law. We went also took into account the resources we had available and wanted to prioritise the quality and flow of the film so we didn’t overcomplicate the number of scenes, prop material, costumes, filming areas etc. We made sure to include each person’s skills with editing and acting to balance the amount of work per person e.g. Me and Micheal writing the script Mia and Orlando Editing (Balanced). In the end, I think we structured our production well and mostly little nick picky things could be improved. I am impressed and pleased with our final product.

How did you come up with the original idea?

We thought of things we had seen in the media, entertainment and just in the world. We used a bit from American modern gangs (crips and bloods), the mafia and drug dealers, money launderers etc. We finish with an idea that included two brothers from each gang (blood and crips), and two cops (bad cop and good cop). One brother has a complication with one of the opposing brothers which is what ends up causing the problem throughout the plot. We knew we wanted to do a semi-plot twist where the audience was unaware of the real solution (the cause of the problem in our film). We used each gang’s signature colours blue and red, we tried to show this in our clothing. Our idea did alter a bit but it stayed roughly the same and we stuck to it through the production.

Describe three obstacles or challenges that you encountered when creating your production.

One minor challenge was the script as we started out writing the script with chatgpt however we didn’t like the script it wrote so we decided to write the script ourselves and I am pleased we did because it gave us a lot more freedom with our creating and acting. One other challenge was the props because we originally had the idea of having a prop cap gun, in the end, we didn’t do it because of school rules and deemed buying a gun as not needed as we were able to create a just as good and arguably more dramatic effect. One other minor challenge was Toby, Michael and Mia joining after time, we simply solved this issue by just adding more roles and extending the film. Overall it was quite a simple hassle-free process.

What would you do differently next time?

I think we should have decided how we wanted to edit the film in our initial plan as it would have made filming easier and we could film towards the editing style. I would also leave more time to edit overall. When it comes to filming it could of been more organised but It was decent enough to be done well.
