Aquaponics Semester 1

The Innovate ED Aquaponics program focuses on creating a sustainable Ecosystem where we can grow plant’s and fish to provide food. Our original goal was to make the Aquaponics area better know, as barely anybody knew about it, and then work on remaking the area, as it was dull and untreated. We also had the task of re-making the aquaponics video’s from the year prior, as they were sloppy and rushed.

Some plants we decided to grow included broccoli, spinach, cherry tomatoes, parsley, basil, lettuce, kale and oregano. We had a hybrid orange and mandarin tree, as well as a lemon tree. We fed scraps of food from the food room to the worms, producing a liquid fertilizer known as worm tea.

Throughout the semester our group was largely trusted, being allowed to stay at the Aquaponics section alone, and i think that the trust we were given made us work harder, and faster because we didn’t want to betray that trust and not do work properly.
