Global goals Semester 2

For the past semester I have been in an elective called global goals. In this elective you get to choose one of seventeen global goals and work on a project to help the world get closer to accomplishing it. The global goals are made by the United nations which aim to change the world and make it a better place. The United Nations are an intergovernmental organization which was founded in 1945 and aim to bring more peace and security to the world. All

In the first term for the first few weeks we gained an idea of what the Global Goals are. We found out that the 17 goals where created by an organization called the United Nations(UN) whose sole aim is to make the world a better place. I partnered up with Joseph and we began deciding which Global Goal we would like to help, it did not have to be on a large scale but within a community, we chose our school community of All Saints’ College, now we had to decide on a exact goal to help. Of those 17 goals we decided on something that could help the schools environment and from that we decided on UN Global Goal number 11.

Goal number 11 is sustainable cities and communities, our community was All Saints’ college, initially we though of the schools bike shelter as it is an issue that both me and Joseph are interested in. We first emailed Mr. Gale to see the schools pre existing plans and what was already being done in this area. We arranged a meeting with Mr. Gale in early term 3. In the Meeting we spoke about the bike shelter and we learnt that it was already planned to be build over the summer. To try and help with this project we made a survey in order to collect data bout the bike shelter and what it would effect. After finishing the survey both joseph and i realized that we could not help with the bike shelter and decided to help Jamie work on the aquaponics area for the rest of the semester.
