Booty man reflection
Q1:
Describe the process you went through to create your production:
To begin with we brainstormed multiple idea for our project and we landed on a semi-serious parody of horror movies. We landed on an idea of “The booty man” an obvious parody of the boogieman, the idea of this character was that when you said his name 3 times in the mirror he would steal your cheeks. While writing the script and the story board we decided to have the booty man posses someone named fahd alib. This shifted the idea of individual summoning’s of the booty man to more of him being unleashed on the town where the main character live. After story boarding and script writing we went out and began to film. We experimented with multiple different camera techniques and special effects that would add depth to the story.
Q2:
How did you come up with the original idea:
When we were first brainstorming there were multiple ideas, our first main idea was of finger boy a super hero with an alien finger parasite. We wanted to parody a genre and after thinking we decided to make a parody of the boogie man that we named “the booty man”. When making the booty man we wanted to connect it to our previous character of “Old man Jenkins” the idea being setting up a sort of “Jenkisverse”.
Q3:
Describe three obstacles that you faced:
The first major obstacle that my group faced was of yr 9 olp. Our entire group was year nine students and because nearly all of us except Dylan were in the first rotation we lost a lot of time around 2weeks worth of work. The second obstacle we faced was time. We wanted the booty man to be prefect so we spent a lot of time working on single shots to make sure they were perfect but that meant that we had less time and had to rush the ending fight scene and final. The final challenge we faced was having a compelling fight scene. We didn’t have many locations to film in so we needed to try and isolate the different areas that we used to fight, with at the end having to have the booty man teleport the main cast to the “Jenkins facility” linking this movie to the previous 3.
Q4:
What would you do differently next time:
Next time I would like to polish the story more before starting and setting realistic goals for what we can do with our available time. We also need to work on our lighting even though the camera angles we used worked. I would also like to use more actors from other classes to differentiate the characters.
