Distracted Driving

What were the biggest things you learned while completing this task?

The main thing that I learnt was that there are a lot of fatalities that occur on our roads related to distracted driving. I knew before that it was a massive factor of crashes but now I see that it is a larger issue than I thought it to be. I now see how big of an issue it is and what it can do to people.

What one piece of advice would you pass on to young drivers above all else? Why?

To not think only about yourself but also others around you when you make these decisions. If you were to get into an accident, you could not only injure yourself but also other people that might be in the car with you and/or in the other cars invloved in the car. If you were to cause death to youself or others through your actions while driving, it would weigh down on you for the rest of your life. Your family would lose someone they love and would have to deal with it.

Write down a pledge that you will commit to when you start driving. Why did you pick these things to commit to? How will you stick to these commitments?

I will not use my phone or drive with distractions when I start. I decided that to pick these things to commit to as it is a major influence and cause of getting into a car crash and potentially injuring me and other people around me. This will allow our roads to be safer even though it may just be one person. If I am driving I will have my phone out of sight and away so I dont get tempted to use it while I am driving.
