Our Stall
In the past couple of years, part of the year 7 curriculum is creating a Christmas market. In this market we have to sell products we created with a $30 budget given to us from the school. I think my group did well during the process and on the day of the Christmas market but there is definitely some things we could have improved on. Once we received our groups, we didn’t have too many ideas, so the first thing that came to our mind we used (rings). If I were to go back and change something, I would make us do more research on products. This is because since we hadn’t done much research on our product, we didn’t know the down sides of it. After we had researched the items that we needed to create the rings and made the prototype, we immediately changed our plans. We decided on making trinket trays (clutter holders).
Throughout the Christmas Market, we were following the design thinking process. Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Feedback. Using this process we were able to create a successful market. My group made a overall profit of $60, but I think we could have made much more if we improved and been more patient with our trinket trays. This experience of creating our own market, has taught us all about economics and real life businesses.
Our target audience was tweens and teens, but I think we should have made out target audience teens and adults because clutter holders are meant for you to be organized and most teens and adults value and want organization. I think we could have also worked on making some sort of packaging because in my opinion if we did, it would have made our product more appealing to customers. The demand for our bigger friendship bracelets were very high and everyone wanted them. I think if our group thought of the idea and had the wool earlier, we could of made more of them. We also could have increased the price of some of our bracelets since they were in such high demand.
Communication: We used our communication skills during this Christmas Market experience when we were buying the items we needed for our products. We needed to use communication by knowing who is going to buy which items.
Collaboration: I think my group collaborated the most when we were creating our products we wanted to sell. We collaborated by using teamwork and trying to create the best products we could make.
Organization: We used our organization skills when spending our money, and creating our products in time. We needed to find the cheapest and best quality items we could find for our products.
In conclusion I am very happy with our stall and I have gained a lot of experience from this.
