WATER CYCLE (PROjECT UTOPIA)

For science we have been looking at the water cycle and all of the different stages of it. We also looked at how the humans affect it and how we can help it, so for this project I will explain why green spaces and grey water can really help our water cycle and can help us keep having cleaning water.

First I will talk about green spaces. Green spaces are both good for the enviroments and for the water cycle because it improves air quality and limits the impact of heat waves. The main reasons why green spaces helps the water cycle by reducing storm water runoff, it stops pollution directly flowing into our ecosystems, It does this by filtering them using natural systems of collection. The last reason is that when it rains urban areas seal the surface so it prevents the water soaking into the ground (infiltration) so the water is still collectible but if no one collects it the water will go back into the water cycle so it can be collected. But if it was not a green space the water would of soaked into the ground and it would be hard to collect it and the water might not make it back in the cycle as it is stuck there in the soil.

Recycling water is very important, recycled water called grey water is very important so we dont waste clean drinkable water when we can use other type of water as showering water, for doing the dishes and a lot more uses. It basically reduces the need for fresh water. For example it collects the drinkable water from, lets say washing your hands, it becomes undrinkable but it is recycled and you can use it for another reason. There are some rules when it comes to recycling water you cant recycle toilet water and water you used to wash nappies with. Another reason is that it saves you money from water bills saving you hundreds over years. So that is grey water hopefully more people use it to help the water cycle.
