Christmas Market

In year seven 2022 I did a Christmas market at ASC, the goal for the Christmas market is to make a product that makes the most profit while also learning about business. The business was held on a lunch in week six, staff and year 5 to year 10 participate try to by are product. We had to make or buy a product using the thirty dollar investment money that the school provided for us. But to get the investment money and start making or buying our products we had to do a pitch to Ms Shaw showing our thinking on how our business worked. If she approved or our business then we can get the thirty dollars from Ms Basset and do our business plan before making our product. When making the products at home we were learning about business, consumers and produces at school and how to provide consumer service. Once creating the products and packaging for them we got the stuff to make the stall design. We also had to make a poster for advertising to bring in consumers. On the day we had to bring a float to provide change for the customers. On the day we got all the things we needed and made a profit.

How did my group do in the Christmas market.

In my group I had Jun, Haraen, Arjun, and Toby. For the market we were selling coasters and bookmarks made from reusing recycled materials. We made a profit of 2.75c, this money will go to charity and in total the year seven cohort made a profit of over sixteen thousand dollars. To make the coasters we used bottle caps forming them into a cool shape and pressed them down in a sandwich pressure and it melts down into a cool coaster and to keep its shape we put it under a heavy object. After a couple minutes we run it under some some cool water on it. To make the bookmarks we cut out a rectangle in a milk carton and drawled on it with sharpies. Then we put rubbing alcohol and let it set for thirty minutes but to make it more shiny we put varnish on it. To make it look better we punch a hole in the bookmark and put string with beads through the hole.

Capabilities

In this project me and my group used a lot of capabilities to make a profit. Some of them were effective communication, self aware, problem solving and creativity. First capability that my group used in the Christmas market was creativity, we used creativity to find fun environmentally friendly product we could sell. When using creativity to find a product to sell we used our imagination and looked at DIY videos that had a product that was useful and good for enviroment.

Problem solving

Problem solving was the most important capability when doing the Christmas market as we had to use it the most. We had to use problem solving when creating the products as we where running out of bottle caps to make the coasters. To solve this problem and make more products we asked Mr Scottie if we could use E6 and use there bottle caps he accepted. And we also used problem solving to lower and higher our prices during the market to make more money. We us problem solving a lot more in this project because problem solving aloud us to look at the negatives in our business and solve them.

Self awareness

In this project we also use self awareness to stay on task and know when we are behind. Self awareness saved our group as we thought we had finished the project but when we took a step back and looked at the other groups we knew that we were behind and not on task. With this information we worked really hard to make packaging and better products. So self awareness enabled us to see that we were behind.

Effective communication

Effective communication was a huge part in our business that we could of done better. If we communicated better during the project we could of been more organised and we could of finished sooner. If we communicated who would do what at which time there would be less stress and a smoother project. Effectives communication would off allowed us to understand the situation that we were in and who will do what in that situation.

This project was fun and I think my group did alright by making a profit.
