Task 9 E-portfolios

There are many different ways that l have used collaborative skills in Year 8. In Term 2 we did a task called “Group production of current affairs assessment, Task 3.” This task helped me practice my contribution skills in my group. I became more confident with sharing my ideas, this task was with students who listened and had similar thoughts to me, so we all collaborated and undertook different roles. My group members were, Jining, Haley, Eva, and myself. Jining’s role was to edit the film and she was also the news reporter, and Haley, Eva, and my roles were to each play a teacher and an essay and film too. We all respected each other’s roles which help us to collaborate successfully.

Collaboration and Undertakes roles

I have developed my co-agency skills which include listening to others, monitoring our progress, and using our ideas to achieve our group goals. We brainstormed ideas to choose our current affairs video topic which meant we all had to listen to each other’s ideas. We combined our ideas so we could achieve our goal of making a current affair video. We need to improve our skills at monitoring our progress because we relied on Mr. Gatti for the time schedule.

As a class group, we all worked on our own poetry anthologies. This task provided me with the opportunity to improve my skills in giving and receiving feedback. ( Encouragement, Constructive criticism). This made my mark better as I had different ideas from my classmates and my teacher, and l got feedback so l could work on my poem as well.

Sourcing resources, was a part of the test as we had to take quotes from the boy in the stripe pajamas into one of the tests. We had to Source resources/quotes so we could use them to write our essay in the test. We got to take only 8 quotes so we had to choose which ones would help us the most in the test and relate to the point that we were making. Using information – we had to use information from the book so we could talk and know more about the quotes that we are putting in the essay. This would help me as we can write what the quote is about, by using information from the book.

In most of the assessments that we did through English in year 8, we had to use feedback that, Mr. Gatti gave us so we could improve our work and get a better final test result. For example, when we had to write our own current affairs article, we could get feedback from, Mr. Gatti so we could improve our article. This helped me quite a lot because l am not that strong at English, and getting guidance from a teacher really help my current affairs article to be better as l got 70%.
