In my learning this year I have had to collaborate with many people in many ways to get the job done. I have made friendships while collaborating on tasks, leading my group to success as a leader, and using common ideas to help the team achieve the task at hand. In the last English task, we were told to create a poetry anthology. During this project I worked with a student I don’t usually talk to. We both wrote a difficult type of poem, and we shared the learning experience together. This not only helped me to persevere in the tedious and difficult challenge of the poem, but it helped me become friends with this student. A while back in semester 1, I was in charge of my innovated $20 boss group. While this came with stress and responsibility, it made me develop leadership and communication skills with my group. I had to learn to be patient yet strict so that everyone got their job done, and the work process went smoothly. A part of this was also accepting that everyone has their own ideas, and sometimes letting go of your mindset and allowing for the creativity of others can go to help. I tried doing this on several occasions. One was when we were tasked to create a market stall, and we could decorate it as we liked. I let my group have lots of input in the design, and I think that this made everyone happier, and the design better. Over the course of this year, I have had to use collaboration skills in the classroom and in group environments to help me achieve my goals and work more efficiently.
