The Illuminate Festival was to acknowledge our department from the transition years into the senior school. During the final semester me and my friends were put in a media class where we spent the time creating a production based on a lightbulb moment.
Describe the process you went through to create your production.
The process through which I went to creating my groups production was long and stressful towards the end. At the start we had to make a script and a storyboard which we did over a week during it we did add different scenes to make way for our new member and get rid of some that we thought didn’t need. After we spent the rest filming and the last two weeks editing the film we submitted.

How did you come up with the original idea?
We got the idea of a haunted school search by a bunch of boys when we got told the topic that the production had to be on which was a lightbulb moment, we all had a few different ideas, but we ended up going with the idea of a haunted setting with a bunch of kids. During the weeks that we were still trying to fully get a proper idea a group ended up splitting up and not having enough members, making some of the groups including us having to pick up another member and slowly alter the story and what was going to happen inside of the story. Still on the idea of a story of a haunted location we settled on a haunted school because we were unable to find anywhere else to film, and due to the fact that our group was mainly boys we ended up creating the story based on a bunch of boys exploring an abandoned school.
Describe three obstacles or challenges that you encountered when creating your production.
The first of the three obstacles that we encountered when creating the production was that we had to pick up another member to our team because his team ended up splitting up. It made it frustrating because we had to all switch up the script add a new character and slightly alter the story to allow him to be involved inside of the production that we had created.
The second of the three obstacles that we encountered when creating the production was that we had a lot of people in our group getting sick or missing school for uncalled for reasons, this slowly pushed back our filming and editing to one week left before submission. Making it hectic not only for me and my group members, but also for our teacher who was worried about if we were going to be able to submit a fully finished production of the festival.
The third and final of the three obstacles that we encountered when creating the production was the issue of on our final day of filming there was no available cameras that made us use one of our group members phones, later when put onto premier pro and exported it produced some really grainy and pixelated scenes that we ended up being unable to fix.
What would you do differently next time?
Next time I would make a lesson plan so me and my group would know what scenes we were going to film every day of the semester. I would also try to give people roles earlier so we could have someone in charge of somethings and other people in charge of other things.
