TERM 4 EATHQUAKE PROJECT
This project was about earthquakes and how buildings can withstand them. The way we researched and experimented with this was we had to create a structure out of spaghetti and blue-tack, we got given a budget of $60 (a stick of spaghetti was $1 and a gram of blue-tack was $1). The aim was to make a building that could stay up in a earthquake by using a simulation.
My group consisted of Miah Davis, Tim Scanlon and Cooper O’Malley. We Decided to go for the short stick idea at first where we broke the spaghetti into small pieces so they wouldn’t snap but that took to much time and too much blue-tack. So we decided to go for a triangle approach and that seamed to work well and for some reason at the last second it broke apart completely so that was annoying. For fun we tested it like everyone else but I completely broke it and that was fun. (video of it below)
Over all I think we did better then I thought we would considering we did not work very well as a team because at the time there were some augments between the group. Miah was helpful because she helped us with our stile while we where building. Tim had a lot of good ideas and came up with all the designs and ways to fix mistakes. And I think I did a good job at keeping everyone on task and together. This project was fun and educational and I very much enjoyed it.
