Interhouse and Interschool Competition
2021 was a year of where I got to compete in many sporting events which led to future opportunities. Many events included Interhouse and Interschool competitions. Coming into my first year of senior school I was excited for the sporting opportunities to come. I was currently into running, AFL and Soccer. The first Sport carnival that I was in was the swimming carnival. I was excited because we got to travel to HBF stadium to have our carnival. Stirling (my house) came 2nd to Durack on the day. Another main sport was X-Country. This was a good time for me as I enjoy it a lot. I came home with first place and Stirling did as well. The Interschool carnival was good fun as I came 6th in that. The last Interhouse competition was the athletics carnival. I competed in the hurdles, high jump, long jump, 1500m, 800m and the 400m. Overall I came 1st and so did Stirling. Overall the Interhouse events gave me an opportunity to collaborate with other Stirling and school students. It taught me valuable communication skills which I will use in the future.
SSWA Futsal
There were 2 times where I was taken to state trials. They were for Indoor Soccer and Cross-Country. With the Indoor soccer competition I was there with fellow students Finlay and Decklyn. The trial went well as myself and Fin were selected and Decklyn as a shadow player. I was happy about this result because it meant that I could improve my soccer and meet other kids. Unfortunately because of covid 19 the event got cancelled so I couldn’t go to Brisbane. Nerveless I will continue training so hopefully I can get into the team in the year 2022.
SSWA X-Country
The other state competition was the SSWA X-Country team and I was their with my brother, Austin. I was running a 3 kilometre race and I came third! My brother also placed putting us both into the state team. We went to a lot of trainings which went towards the competition. Unfortunately, like the futsal the national trip was cancelled but we still got to compete down south. The trip enabled me to meet new people and improve my running.
My Goal for 2022
My goal for 2022 regarding sport is to create a schedule where I can still get a good amount of homework time and have some sport in it. This would be good because it would help me balance out life, active and academic.
