This assessment has 2 main parts: my house of values and role models. In this post I will run you through those 2 things.
Task 1a: House of Values
The first task is the House of Values. This is where I put the top 12 things that I believe in a house. The size of the parts in the house depend on how important those Values are to me.
This shows that my 12 values in order are: love for family, being tenacious, acting selfness less, kindness, work ethic, respect, leadership, honesty, integrity, persistence, success and loyalty.
Task 1b: 3 values
Love for Family
My first main value is “love for family”. I have 3 family members in my house hold: my mum, dad and younger brother. They are all in different situations so it is important for me to get to know what they are feeling. This is because if i get to know what they are feeling i can adapt to it and make them feel better. An example of this is my brother. He often has lots of free time, meaning he gets bored quickly. I can then play with him so then he will have more fun and our bond will grow.
Another thing is that every night and every morning my family aims to have dinner and breakfast together. This is so we can inform everyone what has happened or is happening in that day. I feel that this is important because say i am having a tough time, then my family can talk to me about it, which would make me feel better. It is also good because it strengthens our family connection which benefits everybody.
Work Ethic
I believe that work ethic is important, because no matter how talented you are at something, you can always get better if you try hard, and give it your all. This can be for both sport and academics. For sport if you are playing soccer and you have the skills but you don’t try you will never get better.
Kindness
I believe kindness is important because is everyone is happy then everybody’s life’s will be much easier. An act could just to say thankyou or say hi to someone and it will make them feel great. Even though it may not seem like much it could be the difference between having a good or bad day. A way I demonstrate it is always using my manners. This makes my parents feel good because I donβt challenge what they ask me to do. This then helps our family flow easily.
Task 2a: Healthy Role Models
This part of the Health assessment outlined my healthy role model who is Cristianaldo Ronaldo and why he is healthy. Cristianaldo Ronaldo is a famous soccer player who is one of the most well regarded played.
What behaviours does this person
demonstrate to show that they are healthy?
My healthy role model is Cristianaldo Ronaldo. He is one of the most well regarded football players in the world. Ronaldo always chooses to eat healthy as he knows that it will benefit his fitness and his performance of his games. An example of this is when he was interviewed and there was a soft drink and a water. He moves the coke away and then picks up the water bottle and says “drink water”. This is a massive statement because he has publicly shown the he would choose water over soft drink. This proves that he makes healthy condition.
What do they look like? Are they healthy? How
do you know?
Ronaldo is a very fit person as he has to keep on top of his soccer game. He has lots of muscles because of all the hard work he put in. He posts some of his workouts on social media to prove that. Ronaldo is very healthy as he has revealed that his major food is salad. This has shown the world that Ronaldo is a healthy eater. He is an healthy influence because what he promotes is also healthy.
What message does this person promote? Why
is it inspiring and healthy?
There was one main message promoted which was: never give up even if the whole worlds against you. There was an example of this a long time ago and a couple of weeks ago. When Ronaldo was younger he trained for football with his life as his dream was to become the ultimate soccer player. This was already difficult because his family was living in poverty so it made it hard to train. Never less Ronaldo continued to train daily. When Ronaldo was a 15 year old he was diagnosed with a heart problem due to his irregular heart beat. This led to heart surgery. This was a risky operation but he had to do it if he was to become a football player. The operation was luckily successful and he survived. He was the later drafted to play for sporting Lisbon. He shows that even if you have it tough if you keep your spirit on the end in mind then you will be fine.
Why should young people look up to this
person as a role model?
Young people should look up to Ronaldo because of all the hard work that he puts in. Ronaldo did have talent but what got him through to the soccer league was his work ethic. He was always training as best as he could in every situation. Children can then use that and do that in school and sport alike. Ronaldo then also has more values as he is also very healthy and shows that to the public. This then influences kids to be healthy.
Thinking back to your House of Values activity,
what values does this person demonstrate?
In my house of values, I feel that Ronaldo shows/has: leadership, Work ethic, persistence, success and being tenacious. These are 5 of my 12 values in my house. For leadership, he is the captain of the Portugal soccer team, and has been captain for many other clubs. For work ethic, he is always shown to be trying his hardest no matter what if thatβs training or a game. For persistence, he always tries his best even if things are tough. And for success he would always have the end in mind of a trophy or some kind of success so that is his other value.
Conclusion
In conclusion Cristianaldo Ronaldo is a healthy role model who everybody should look up to.
Task 2b: Unhealthy Role Models
This part of the Health assessment outlined my unhealthy role model who is Ben Cousins and why he is unhealthy. Ben Cousins was a famous AFL player who used to be one of the most well regarded players before he chose and did unwise decisions.
What behaviours does this person demonstrate to show
that they are unhealthy?
My unhealthy role model is Ben Cousins. He used to be one of the best AFL players, winning a Brownlow medal which is the highest individual award a played can receive. In 2007 Ben Cousins illegibly took drugs which put him out of the AFL and in 2017 he breached a restraining order which put him into jail for 1 year. His reputation from being one of the best players dropped in an instant becoming a mad man on drugs.
What do they look like? Do they look unhealthy? How do
you know?
Ben Cousins appearance has changed significantly from when he was playing AFL to when he started taking drugs. Before taking drugs he was muscular, lighter younger looking face that was clean shaven. He was often seen with a smiley face. After he had taken drugs he longer messier hair, messy facial hair, not muscular and always seem with a grimace on his face. This shows a very unhealthy man that made very bad decisions.
What message does this celebrity promote? Why is it
unhealthy?
Ben Cousins promotes that even when your great or one of the best in the world you should do anything even if its dangerous to get better. This is because Ben Cousins was coming off a 2005 Brownlow medal where he was currently the best AFL player and he still chose do take drugs. This is unhealthy because you should never take drugs as hey can effect you physically and mentally. After he took drugs he started to have mental issues which were accelerated because of his drug addiction.
Do you think young people should look up to this person as
a role model? Why or why not?
don’t think that young people my age should look up to Ben Cousins. This is because the world is encouraging no violence and no drugs which is the complete opposite of what Ben Cousins is. For me and other kids who do lots of sport i should not be driven to do what ever makes you the best by harming yourself rather trying to improve but to have fun. If everyone stays to that then all sports will be much more enjoyable and the world will be much safer.
Is everything you hear, read or see in the media true?
Discuss.
No. This is because every website or video containing information doesn’t have the exact same views/story to tell. An example of this would be the West Coast Eagles website and then a police investigation website. In the West Coast Eagles site they wouldn’t include about the specific drugs because then they would be thought of badly rather they would make things as minimal as possible. Rather with a Police website they would include every specific detail informing the viewers fully of what’s happening, as its there job to keep everybody informed and safe.
Conclusion
In conclusion Ben Cousins is a bad role model and no people should look up to him.
