YEAR 10 HASS PROJECT

Progress Update One

We get the opportunity to investigate a project of our choice as part of our year 10 humanities course and construct an outcome to display at a final exhibition in term 4. My partner Chloe and I have chosen geography as our research topic. Perth’s liveability is something we’re looking into. To begin, we considered what we wanted to accomplish for our project; we considered a few options before settling on one that we both loved. This was an interactive concept that depicted the finest areas to live in Perth. We started filling out the booklet after we had our idea. We made a list of the questions we wanted to answer and the resources we’d need to answer them. After that, we worked on our annotated bibliography until it was completed.

Effective communication is one of the qualities we’ll use because we’ll need to talk to each other to figure out what we’re doing and if we’re on the correct track. We won’t be able to just communicate; we’ll have to communicate properly and ensure that we both understand one another. This includes exchanging ideas, sharing what we’ve completed so far, and discussing what remains to be done. As we face problems and arguments, we will apply problem-solving techniques. We will also need to use organisation because we need to be organised with what we are doing in order to stay on track and avoid falling behind. Finally, we will need to use creativity since we have already used it in coming up with our idea and will continue to do so while developing our idea.

Moving forwards with our project, we need to learn more about what people prefer to do in Perth and where those activities and events take place, as social events have an impact on liveability. We also need to learn more about public transportation in Perth and where it is most efficient. We also need to investigate why people like to live in Perth, and as we learn more, we’ll need to design new research questions.

We’ll begin thinking how we’ll present our findings after we’ve completed all of the necessary research. After we first start and continue doing this, we will need to use all of our resources. We will spend all of our time in term 4 on our project. We’ll need to be extremely creative during this phase if we’re going to come up with a fun and original idea that we can work on and stick with.
