On Wednesday, April 5th, 2023 we went on an excursion to RACbstreetsmart aimed at young drivers. We watched a few videos of the events leading up to a reenacted crash and listened to some stories of what had happened to real drivers that were in a crash.

During the RACbstreetsmart one of the biggest things I learned was during the crash demonstration when the guy was thrown through the front window because he didn’t wear his seatbelt. It was really shocking how far he went out of the window and that he would’ve died instantly and that there was no chance he could’ve been saved. I learned just how incredibly important it is to always wear a seatbelt while driving.

One piece of advice I would give to young drivers is to always be careful and use every measure possible to minimize injury or death in the event of a crash or prevent it entirely. Do this because no one ever plans for a crash and you don’t want to be badly injured which could affect you for the rest of your life or watch one of your best friends die in front of you.

I will always do everything possible to prevent a crash or minimize the dangers of one and to do this by making sure the driver has had enough rest, never drinking before driving, never allowing myself to be distracted by others or myself, and always wearing a seatbelt. I chose to commit to these things because they are very important and I want to prevent any serious crashes with me or any of my friends behind the wheel.

I made a poster to campaign against drowsy driving and the poster I made is down below.
