The Christmas market is an opportunity where students start a business and make a product. They are then to sell this product at the annual year 7 Christmas market not only did we lots about economics and business we also learnt about and practised 8 ASC capabilities that aren’t only used in school but in our future these capabilities will be key to being successful there. I was in a group with 3 others forming a team of 4. The product we chose were traditional Chinese laser-cut bookmarks with different patterns and homemade stickers.

What I learnt?

Collaboration, effective communication, being organised, problem solving and being creative: As we were in a group of four which is larger then a group of three or two as most groups were and it was harder because everyone has different ideas so we had trouble agreeing on things and it was hard to make sure that everyone was doing something useful to make sure we were most efficient and organising what to do at home as well. Because of this we chose to make a team in the teams app to make sure we can remind people to do things and ask each other questions at home. We had to use the capabilities of effective communication and collaboration to ask questions and know what to do and spread out the work among us. We used creativity and organisation to create a team to organise our work and know what every one is doing. we also needed problem solving skills to solve all the problems of being in a large group.

This is me and my group’s stall during the Christmas market.

Overall, I think the Christmas market was a fun and educational activity as we learnt so much about economics and business and I learnt and practised the important ASC capabilities and I grew as a person in both knowledge and personality.
