$20 Boss
Semester 1
About our Project
This project was called 20 dollar boss. During this project we were assigned design and present a product we could create and sell at a school market. We first made infographics to outline our interests and skills. After this we went and thought of different product we could make for a cheap price and then sell. After this we presented reasons on why we should be a CEO for our product. The teachers would then decide on the best products and presentations and some people would become a CEO and get to make there product.
If you were not selected to be a CEO you would go around to the CEO’s and present your infographic along with some reasons on why you should be employed. The CEO’s would then decide on people they want for there business. Each group then got paid $20 for each person in there group and took that money to make products, we spent a couple of weeks making our products and then get a go to try and sell our products at a market called runway.
What Was My Product
Through our project I had a couple of ideas. My main idea was glow in the dark hacky sacks as i found a glow in the dark wool for really cheap. After some investigating I made a pretty good presentation and I got CEO which was really exciting. One of my friend was doing tye dye hacky sack which I thought was cooler and a better product so I decided to instead try and get into his group and I made it so I ended up doing tye dye hacky sacks.
About My Journey
In this project I went with Rithvik, Dylan and Orlando. Throughout this project we split the roles quite equally between our group. My role in the group was to create a stand out of some scrap wood I had. This was because we needed a way to display our items during the market. We decided as a group on this as we wanted to make a stand type display for our items and I loved woodworks and had some spare wood so it wouldn’t cost us any money. We had a couple different designs for this but we finished with a small inclined ramp design. I worked on this while my group member did some other things like making money and profit spreadsheets and making the actually products. These products were to hard to make because you could dye many at a time and then leave them overnight to dry. After that you just had to fill it with the rice and sew it up. The hardest part was sewing because it didn’t look to neat at first however this problem was quickly solved with a spiral type sew at the top of the hacky sack.
Semester 2
Over the past two terms we have done a project called 20 dollar boss. In this project you could decide if you wanted to be a boss or an employee. The bosses would come up with an idea about a product they could make to sell. The employees in this time made a resume. After this the employees got to go through the different company’s and fill in an application to the ones they want to work at saying why they should be employed. Once groups were decided you could start looking at things you would need to buy to make your product. A sales pitch was then created and presented. Once you had been approved you would be given 20 dollars for each person in your group. You would then buy your supplies and make your products. We then had a market were we had a chance to sell as many of our products as we could.
I was an employee so I started by making my resume. After this i chose Tye Dye Socks which was a company that made tye dye socks. Luckily I managed to get in and I was in a group with two other people and a CEO. We then bought all the supplies we needed and started to make some products. We then went to seek feedback from different people. After some feedback we upgraded out probs a little and then it was time for the market. We also did some table designs to make our table look better. At the market we managed to sell majority of our products.
