Future of Fremantle
What is the project about?
In the past 2 terms the year seven students have been working together to redesign and create the future of Fremantle. This was an exclusive opportunity to present our ideas to experts who are in the process of redesigning Fremantle at this very moment. We have been working hard to think of ideas that will pursue global goals and make a place where people can thrive as a community and feel safe and involved in community service while also thinking about livability factors.
Global goals
The Global Goals are a set of 17 objectives that must be accomplished by the year 2030. No Poverty and Life on Land are two examples. If we want to have a society that runs smoothly, we must complete them. It is obvious that they must be an essential component of our design. We had to learn more about them as a result. After studying a select few, everyone completed a worksheet on them. Then, everyone ranked them according to what they considered to be the most significant. On this, we collaborated with others, which also taught us how to work effectively as a team.
Freo excursion
we were taken into freo to examine the area in which we would be studying. This helped us figure out the scale and find out what heritage buildings needed to stay. We looked around to see how we could improve the area and make it a more livable area.
Global goals
Global goals are a set of goals hoped to be achieved by 2030. Some examples of global goals is global goal number 1 no poverty, global goal number 2 no hunger and global goal number 3 good health and well-being. We had to include these goals in our planning to try to make froe a more liveable place. One of our ideas was a homeless shelter which would link to global goal number one no poverty. Our homeless shelter is a place for people to have a second chance and start over in life. This will also help them make money by not being under the pressure of have to pay bills and worry about where they will stay. This will make freo a more livable place.
Public speaking
After 2 terms of planning our year finally had the opportunity to present all of our ideas to experts as well as parents. Public speaking has always been a fear of mine and I was very nervous to finally talk Infront of all of our guests. So, I spent a very long time memorizing my speech this was also an English assessment but doing with a group made me allot more comfortable. Me and my group presented our ideas first to the clkass and next to the parents and experts.
ASC capabilities
The ASC Capabilities Wheel is comprised of 10 skills needed in a person to make a positive difference in a collaborative environment. They come under 3 categories, which are positive relationships, spirited agency, and powerful thinking. Throughout Project Utopia, I focused on developing my effective communication skills.
Conclusion
During our work through term 2 ad 3 I learned many new and interesting things. Like how it is important to think of sustainability while thinking about how it will affect future generations. This project was a lot of work but it was very fun to be a part of and I was very lucky to have this opportunity
