Drivers ED – DONT SPEED
I learnt the impacts of speeding and how it can affect your life and the lives of others around you. I also learnt how common speeding fatalities are and how it could easily happen to me or one of my friends when we start driving.
To always be responsible on the roads. If you are not fit to drive then don’t, get an uber or someone else to drive, its not worth the repercussions. By always being responsible you will avoid most dangerous situations where you and your passengers could get hurt.
I pledge to always do the right thing on the roads. I choose this to commit to as I will avoid most if not all situations and if I were to get into an accident of any kind I will know its not my fault. I will stick to these commitments by being a responsible driver and keeping myself in check.
Reasons people speed can include showing off to friends, to avoid being late, or accidental speeding. Speeding comes with great consequences, as the faster you travel the longer it takes to stop and the larger the risk of serious injury. The consequences include fines that can range from 400 to 1200 dollars, and the removal of demerit points. If you are speeding by more than 40km/hr over the speed limit it is a $1200 fine and the removal of 7 demerit points. Speeding can also take human life. Over four years 1662 people lost their lives to a speeding related accident, taking human life is irreversible and will stay with you forever. Speeding can also cause damages to your vehicle, these damages can come from crashing into obstacles on or around the road and are expensive to repair. Speeding is the largest killer on the West Australian roads causing 47% of road fatalities, we need to work together as a community to keep ourselves and others safe.
