Keys for life – Speeding Campaign

What I learnt:

From attending the RACbstreetsmart I have gotten a lot of information about driving and road safety. One key take away I would like to highlight is the accidents can happen to anyone and the are not planned. There is an equal risk driving today than yesterday or tomorrow. Accidents happen in many forms but all are caused from mistakes on the road. To prevent these accidents be sure to remain calm while driving, ensure you are using your seatbelt and also ensure you are always aware of your surroundings.

My Advice:

One piece of advice I would like to pass onto young drivers is to above all else not speed. Remember that speed isn’t a measure of how cool you are nor your own worth on the road. Safety is always your number 1 priority. When with your friends don’t feel obligated to speed, instead remember that it is better to arrive than to risk everything in a momentary rush. Drive responsibly, respect yourself and others, don’t speed.

My Pledge:

I pledge to prioritize safety and responsibility while driving, understanding the grave risks associated with speeding. As a responsible driver, I commit to the following:

  1. I will respect and obey all traffic laws, including speed limits, as they are in place to ensure the safety of everyone on the road.
  2. I will always remain aware of my surroundings and adjust my driving speed accordingly, taking into account road conditions, weather, and traffic congestion.
  3. I will resist the temptation to exceed the speed limit, recognizing that a few minutes gained by speeding are insignificant when compared to the potential consequences and dangers posed by reckless driving.
  4. I will set a good example for others by driving within the speed limits, encouraging my family, friends, and acquaintances to do the same.
  5. I will refrain from participating in any activities that may distract me while driving, such as using mobile devices, eating, or engaging in excessive conversations, as they can impair my judgment and reaction time.
  6. I will remain patient and calm behind the wheel, understanding that traffic delays are a part of daily life and that frustration does not justify putting myself or others at risk.

By adhering to these principles, I pledge to prioritize the safety of myself, my passengers, as well as other road users, and above all else stride towards being a more responsible driver.
