The principles of justice are a number of principles that are designed to protect the rights of individuals. This means that the rights of individuals in court are protected and unviolated. For example in the Pauline Patrick case the principles of justice were upheld, on the other hand in the John button case the principles of justice were not upheld. these include Equality before the law, the Right to a fair hearing, and the Presumption of innocence. Through an investigation of the John Button case, it will be shown that the principles of justice, in this case, were not upheld.

In the John button case, the principle of the right to a fair hearing was compromised. As stated in Dead Unlucky, the Jury’s Foreman said that “John button is not guilty” and ten seconds later he said that “John button is guilty.” This means that he was treated unfairly during the hearing. The example demonstrates that John button was not fairly treated during the hearing.

In the John button case, the principle of the Equality before the Law was not upheld. John button whilst obtained by police was questioned for hours on end until john button pled guilty. This violated the Equality before the Law as stated in Dead unlucky: The John Button story. He was not treated fairly before during and after the trial. These examples demonstrate that John Button was not given the Equality before the Law

Another element of the John Button case was that John was not given the right to appeal when he had just enough evidence against the court. John buttons relatives and friends found a just amount of evidence against the court. As stated in dead unlucky a John Button Story he had a just amount of evidence although after three appeals he was given an appeal and eventually exonerated. As a result of this, it can be seen that the principle of the right to an appeal was compromised in the john button case

I believe that in the John Button case the Principles of justice were not upheld this included Equality before the law, the Right to a fair hearing, and the Presumption of innocence. This is due to these principles being compromised
