What were the biggest things you learnt while completing this task? | I learnt that speeding is a major cause of unnecessary deaths in Australia, especially among the young population. I learnt this from many statistics, such as that speeding being the biggest killer on Australian roads, drivers between the ages of 17-25 being most effects by speeding and in NSW, it contributing to 41% of road fatalities. I also learnt the importance of taking your target audience into account when creating a campaign, as you need to present it in a way your target audience will find engaging and therefore will be influenced by. For example, in my campaign after much thought I came to the conclusion that a vocal quartet would be most engaging to a young audience due to the humorous juxtaposition in the piece with serene music and serious lyrics about death, and the element of surprise created by this unorthodox presentation method. Some more minor things I learnt, is to be careful where you receive your information from and how a musical canon is structured. |
What one piece of advice would you pass on to young drivers above all else? Why? | The one piece of advice I would pass on to young drivers above all else is to not speed when driving. The reason this would be my advice is because young drivers are at the most risk of a being fatally injured from speeding and driving and because speeding is the one bad driving behaviour which causes the most fatalities. I would especially pass this message on to any young male drivers as 80% of those killed from speeding are male. |
Write down a pledge that you will commit to when you start driving. Why did you pick these things to commit to? How will you stick to these commitments? | I pledge to try to not cause any road fatalities or injuries. I picked to commit to not to cause any road fatalities or injuries because everyone should try their best to not cause death and because injuries can cause serious pain and even be permanent. I will stick to these commitments by avoiding driving behaviours which often cause crashes such as speeding, drink driving, messaging while driving, etc. |
