This year in the year 10 and 9 dance elective, I was lucky enough to take Dance Performance and Dance Choreography for Semesters 1 and 2 this year. In semester 1 I performed at the school’s Dance Concert Performance the ‘Can-can’ and ‘From the Ashes’ as a part of the dance elective. I also performed in the dance concert semester 1 called “all of us”, it was a lyrical dance, choreographed by a year 12 dance ATAR student. I have really enjoyed this years dance elective as it has it has been a good opportunity to improve my skills and technique. I really enjoyed doing all the dance concerts and learning new choreography an routines, and working with new people.
One of the assessments for year year 9 and 10 elective course for semester 2, was making up our own chorography and creating a dance. We were given an a piece of paper with a drawing or text on it. My group was given a picture of the Chanel no. 5 Christmas add add. working from this we decided to make a dance based on beauty standerds, modeling and how it changed through the decades.This is our dance “One” The chorus line dance, we preformed this dance in the choreography night. Chorus line is a Broadway dance, usually done with a large group of dancers who perform synchronized routines, usually in musical theatre. This dance was a good opportunity to work on my skills and improve technique.
