Year 9 Camp- English Task

Year 9 OLP was hosted at Kalbarri and was a week-long camp. There were two different rotations in either week 2 or 3 in Term 3. It consisted of five nights in tents in various locations. All students at the camp split into groups and split up doing different activities such as hiking, abseiling and more. The camp required different capabilities as well as different strengths in order to venture through the remaining parts of the camp productively. The camp especially showed us different skills which we would need in future, with interactions with different people.

Leadership

Leadership was required throughout the camp by all individuals in order to greatly succeed in all areas. An example of the requirement of leadership within the group is cooking. We had to take up roles to purposefully cook for the group, and be a leader in the sense of getting required tasks done and being proactive. Another example is found within the activities. To be a leader, you were to encourage others and be the one in the group to lead the rest of the group. Doing this showed a great leader within the camp.

Working as a Team

Within the camp, we were required to work as a team so that we could proactively complete the activities whilst at Kalbarri. In different settings, working as a team would benefit the camp group as an entirety. An example of this was in our tent forming and removing. Whilst doing this, we were required to work as a team and work with one another in order to finish the tent in a short enough time. Another example is the majority of the cooking. We needed to work together, in order to bring everything required and complete the cooking to a high standard.
